Vitiligo is a condition that causes loss of skin color in patches. The discolored areas usually get bigger with time. The condition can affect the skin on any part of the body. Loss of skin colour can affect any part of the body, including the mouth, hair and eyes. It may be more noticeable in people with darker skin.

Normally, the color of hair and skin is determined by melanin. Vitiligo occurs when cells that produce melanin die or stop functioning.

The cause of vitiligo is unknown, but it may be related to immune system changes, genetic factors, stress. Not every one is susceptible to this but vitiligo generally sets outs during puberty’s, when there is a lot of stress that leads to decrease of immunity, irregular sleep routine and junk food.
